Theatres Combined Insurance is a commercial policy made of various sections offering a wide range of cover options, you simply choose the insurance cover you require to suit your needs. Please note however Employers Liability insurance cannot be chosen without Public Liability insurance.
All Risks Section:
This section covers your props, set, costumes, instruments, technical equipment, Office Contents, Laptops and Artistes Property. Standard policies would only cover your equipment in the UK however you can either extend this as and when you tour abroad and pay the small additional premium or extend to EU or Worldwide cover on an annual basis. The Performers policy has the benefit of a low £100 policy excess.
If you own or are responsible for insuring your Buildings cover is available including Accidental Damage and Glass, with or without subsidence cover.
This section has a set £10,000,000 limit of indemnity and covers your legal liability to your employees. There is sometimes confusion over what constitutes an employee. Actors or crew acting as freelance or volunteers, whether you pay them or not must be covered by Employers Liability insurance. Do not confuse insurance with the Inland Revenue - just because you do not pay someone’s income tax does not mean they are not employees. If they are under your control you are legally responsible for them and you may require this insurance by law.
This insurance protects you from claims made against you by third parties for property damage or bodily injury. You have a choice of limits available from £1,000,000 to £10,000,000. Note that you must carry your own public liability cover even if the venue carries its own.
Either loss of revenue or additional cost of working are available following damage to your premises. In addition there are numerous optional extensions available such as Failure of Public Utilities and Denial of Access.
The policy offers a chosen cash limit from £500 to £5,000, higher limits are available upon request. In addition to covering the actual loss or theft of cash, assault benefits are also included.
Unlike Employers Liability cover where you have to be negligent this section will pay a chosen lump sum or weekly benefit to somebody who suffers an accident - whether you are negligent or not.
